6 Month Intensive Programme
– Native Irish Spiritual Teaching, with an Irish Morrigan Priestess –
Monthly Online Classes, Course Programme Materials, Research Materials, Guided Journeys, Community Discussion Group, Distance Education and Guided Learning, to bring you closer to the Irish Goddess Morrigan (Morrigú, na Mórrigna), She of Battle and Prophecy in Ireland.
Each Month there will be a Sunday Session, timed for morning/afternoon in the US and evening in Europe, where we review student questions and engage with a guided journey led by the course tutor. After that session students will receive the digital package download for that module, and proceed through the coursework for that month, checking in by email on a weekly basis.
You have ONLY one chance for inclusion in this Programme each year, and the next course will run Summer Solstice to Samhain 2018 – see below for exact Programme Dates.
Places are limited and the work is INTENSIVE – do not apply (especially for a scholarship place, ffs!) if you are not willing and able to commit to a heavy study load, and deep personal development work.
If you’re not ready for this commitment – please take the Morrigan Introduction Class Here, and check out the other Irish Spirituality Class Downloads to begin with. Get on our Mailing List for Free Resources, or Join the tribe on Patreon.

What Will You Learn?
In the interests of keeping this as simple as possible, while still providing a full introduction to the Morrigan, it seemed sensible to revert back to my journalistic training, and cover all the angles in the standard format over 5 modules…
- Who is She… Background, Literary Sources, Associations?
- What is She… Irish Deities, Tuatha Dé Danaan, God Concepts?
- When was/is She… Cultural Context, Seasons, Festivals and Cycles?
- Where is She… Sites and Places, Appropriate Spaces?
- Why is She… Working with Her Now, Benefits and Pitfalls?
What People Say About This Work
I was blessed to have taken this course with Lora at a significant turning point in my life. In March 2016, the Morrigan demanded I embrace my solidarity, and it was a painful initiation process of standing up against misogyny and sexism.
We started the course in the summer, (I have a dear friend who took the course with me). With peer support, and Lora’s incredible skill and guidance, I learned a great deal about the Morrigan, my calling, the principles we share, and about my role in activism. The timing of the course, and how it coincided with world events, was life-changing and poignant. The support of the group was poignant and effective.
I especially valued some of the discussions about gender, the Samhain journey, the wealth of articles and research, and the meditations to meet Herself in Her cave, which I have now memorized and incorporated into my practice.
Lora is one of the most genuine and no bullshit spiritual teachers and mentors I have ever met. Her humour, passion, and knowledge have given me great insight and strength in these strange and powerful times we live in. 🖤
Jacqueline DuChateau Gould:
I consider you an access point and very knowledgeable resource to a land my blood and spirit are connected to.
When someone asks me where to go to learn about Irish traditions, I refer them to you without hesitation. You are admired and respected for your work.
Áine Máire Ní Mhurchú:
You are offering an opportunity to experience and learn some much needed and connected Irish specific path workings and education… be confident in the knowledge of cocreating a really resourceful learning community with the land.
Psychology and Self Development
People who are serious and genuinely engage with this type of training programme often experience self-doubt – you might feel you lack the strength or the confidence to deal with the Morrigan safely or sensibly. If your eventual goal is dedication to service/priesthood, this becomes even more important. Utilising my psychological training and background, we address this with a self development element to each of the 5 modules.
Each Monthly Module Digital Programme Download includes:
- Original Course Programme Content and Research Materials
- Custom Worksheets and Exercises (yup, that means HOMEWORK!)
- Self Development Guided Meditation Journey Audio File
- PDF copy of the Class Presentation Notes
- Video and Audio recordings of that month’s Online Class session
- Video and Audio recordings of that month’s Guided Journey to Meet the Morrigan
- Access to previous programme’s Class and Journey Audio and Video recordings
- Access to Facebook community discussion forum, for current and previous Programme Members Only.
Each module will be worked in depth through the month, and a deeper connection formed as your personal study and use of the materials continues over months or even years. The Programme materials will require a time commitment of at least 10 hours per module, plus the Sunday Session (about 90-120 minutes of teaching time, once per month).
Frequently Asked Questions
IS THIS REALLY SOMETHING THAT CAN BE TAUGHT?
Yes, absolutely. There’s a whole load of stuff that we can learn from academic texts and papers, conferences, discussion with the experts, and even gnosis which can be correlated over years of shared understanding with a multitude of people. That’s what I’ve been doing here for the last 20 years of general study, with 13 years of that specifically trying to keep up with the weight of the work I’ve felt She charged me with. Of course, nothing I give you can replace those years of study and personal development, and nor should they. But I can teach a firm foundation, and essential starting points from which to base your own growth.
DO YOU NEED TO BE IN IRELAND TO CONNECT TO IRISH DEITY?
Well, it certainly helps. This land is their source. But… no, in most cases you don’t need to actually live here to facilitate a firm and true connection. Having a native guide is a good start, and if you’re anything like me you’ll want to walk this land as soon and as often as you possibly can. Until then, it’s not THIS world that the Morrigan resides in, most of the time. You can meet Her where She lives – in the Irish Otherworld, through my unique Guided Journey technique.
WILL YOU BE OFFERING INITIATION INTO MORRIGAN PRIESTHOOD?
No. Just, no.
My views on Priesthood do not tend to tie in with what the general pagan community finds acceptable, even ‘normal’. That is something between you and your God, a role and a responsibility that bears much weight and many years of work. Yes, there are loads of things I see as essential to training for priesthood. I would like to teach you those things.
But it’s not up to me to make you a priest of the Morrigan. That’s up to you, and ultimately to Her.
About Your Guide – Irish Morrigan Priestess Lora O’Brien
Lora is a native Irish woman with strong experience in our history, heritage, archaeology, mythology, and Irish Spirituality.
You could call her Pagan, Witch, Druid, Priestess or Shaman, and you wouldn’t be wrong, although she doesn’t call herself anything but a Draoí – a practitioner of indigenous Irish magic and spirituality, in the simplest terms.
While working for 8 years as the General Manager at Cruachán – Rathcroghan Royal Site in Co. Roscommon, Lora was honoured to guide visitors both physically and spiritually to Oweynagat, the Cave of the Cats, the real life entrance to the Irish Otherworld and home of the Morrigan in Ireland.
She is still a tour guide (by special appointment only), a teacher, and writes Irish heritage articles and books, including: her earliest work ‘Irish Witchcraft from an Irish Witch’; ‘A Practical Guide to Irish Spirituality’ in 2012, which combines her psychology studies with very accessible information and technique to provide a clear pathway for connection to Ireland; and the forthcoming ‘A Practical Guide to Irish Magic’ (Llewellyn, 2018).
Lora is a co-founder and legal Reverend with the Irish Pagan Life Rites organisation, has been consciously following a pagan path for 21 years, and is a dedicated Priestess of the Morrigan for over 13 years. It’s hard work, but the benefits are… no, actually. It’s just hard work.
